Cerulean: from the Latin word for "heaven." A shade of blue that artists love to use when painting the sky because of the purity of the color. Cerulean is emblematic of the breathtaking embrace guests feel from the sea and sky when they arrive at the villa.

about us

Cerulean Villa, is an exceptional private resort situated directly on Barnes Bay, a stunning white sand beach on the island of Anguilla. Opened in 1997 to international acclaim, Cerulean Villa has set the standard for 5 star accommodations, service, and cuisine.

The seven bedroom estate, designed by noted architect, Deborah Berke, is innovative in creating an eco-friendly open-air style, beautifully integrated into the natural environment, with extensively landscaped grounds. The custom furnishings, stone floors, and tile work were executed by craftsmen in both Mexico and Morocco.

Guests enjoy all of the amenities of a five star resort, with the intimacy one would expect in a private home.

The estate has been reviewed beautifully photographed by travel, leisure, and luxury shelter publications, including House and Garden and Italian Architectural Digest.

the experience

accomodations

All of the seven bedrooms overlook the sea and are quite spacious at an average of 515 square. Each room has its own private entrance and most have a private terrace with comfortable seating arrangements. All of the rooms are air-conditioned. Two of the bedrooms feature domed ceilings.

There is a land-based phone in each room, wireless Internet service, and cable television connectivity.

The bedrooms have large marble bathrooms with European styling. Large deck tubs and separate glass-enclosed showers. Two of the bathrooms have extensions with private outdoor shower gardens.

The proximity of the seven bedrooms to common areas balance guest privacy with the expansive inclusive common space for living, entertaining, and dining. Large families and groups are amazed at the intimacy and relaxing ease by which one can move from a game of tennis, to a gentle swim in the sea.

The house is equipped with a media center offering access to 60 cable channels, a library of popular DVD movies, books on the local culture, and a sound system compatible for I-Pod connectivity. There is a small business center with fax machine and desktop Internet service. Secretarial support can also be arranged thru a local provider.

service

Cerulean prides itself on providing extraordinary and highly personalized guest service.

The resort maintains a one to one guest ratio, anchored by a small multi-talented management staff. Under the supervision of Bruce Hearn, our General Manager, the Villa has a dedicated executive chef, head housekeeper, and a guest services coordinator.

An additional pool of hospitality staff are employed on a seasonal basis to insure that each and every booking receives the necessary attention to detail in planning and execution.

We encourage prospective guests to conference with our General Manager with questions, and become better informed to the diversity of activities which can be planned when staying at the Cerulean Villa. Upon confirmed bookings, our General Manager will work closely with you to prepare the accommodations, food, menu, and outline a plan for desired excursions or activities. If there are guests of different ages, particularly small children, a special schedule of activities will be recommended that are entertaining, educational and fun.

Attentive, yet discrete and non-intrusive, the staff will work actively and patiently every day.. A few of the things you can expect at Cerulean are cool refreshing towels served poolside, nightly turn down service, daily personal laundry service, exotic tropical drinks, and hors d’oeuvres before dinner.

grounds

Set within the landscaped exterior is a tennis court with covered viewing pavilion and bar. Adjacent to the tennis court is a fitness center with a Precor cross training machines, treadmill, free weights, and a Cybex multi-station platform.

The appealing 40x25 foot freshwater pool overlooks the sea and is lovely for swimming laps, or relaxed bathing. It features a shallow edge that runs around the perimeter of the pool, which is an ideal play space for children.

Surrounding the pool is a 3,000 square foot stone deck with teak lounge chairs, umbrellas, and large teak tables for dining al fresco.

Cerulean has extensive tropical gardens including a marble meditation court with a waterfall. Our full time gardener ensures that the grounds always look their best with aromatic fresh cut flowers placed in the rooms each day.

On a second floor deck above pool level is a Jaccuzzi situated in the perfect setting to relax with a cocktail and watch the sunset over the sea.

The house sits directly on beautiful Barnes Bay with a wide white-sand beach for sunbathing, a light jog, walking, or collecting shells. Just off shore is a coral reef for easy snorkeling, and for the more adventurous there are sea kayaks available.

food

An undeniable highlight at Cerulean is the delicious food.

Dining is a celebration at Cerulean, and integral to a rejuvenating vacation experience. The daily menu is custom designed for each family and their guests. Whenever, possible, local herbs, and ingredients are blended with a daily catch of fresh fish, poultry, and the best cuts of beef. Our general manager enjoys the art of pairings, and can help match a series of wine tastings to the menu each day.

Ours guests select when and where they want to dine; in our formal dining room, casually outdoors under the stars, or on the beach for the legendary Cerulean beach barbecue.

activities

At Cerulean Villa, there is an art to planning activities, or frankly, not planning anything at all. Scheduling can be detailed and well organized or spontaneous and open.

For guests who love to be active, there are water-based excursions: exploring coves and out islands. There is snorkel and scuba diving, deep sea fishing, water skiing, and water-based aerobics.

Fitness, biking, and tennis are available right on the property. The Villa can arrange for yoga instruction, tennis lessons, fitness training, and other expert-assisted activities upon request.

Early morning nature walks, bird and wildlife sightings, and tours of local cultural sites can also be arranged.

For families with teenagers, or small children, the staff are often asked to create separate activities that are adventuresome and fun.

No request is too big or small, and our staff are ready to plan activities just for you.

kids club

Children are always welcome at Cerulean and in fact many of our guest families find that staying at a private villa is the ideal way to travel with children.

Grandparents, Parents, and the adults enjoy quality private time to relax, while the children are supervised and entertained nearby but on the property. Cerulean believes that “a happy child makes for a happy parent” and we are pleased to offer our supervised children’s program, something that sets us apart from many other villas.

Children can choose from such diverse activities as pony rides on the beach, glass bottom boat trips, treasure hunts, and arts and crafts programs all under the supervision of our highly trained children’s coordinator. This not only affords children the opportunity to do something they would really like to do, but it also gives parents time off to relax and do what they would like to do, whether it be go for a snorkel, read a book in peace, or have a nap.

spa

The Spa at Cerulean offers a full range of services to pamper and restore you, including massages, aromatherapy facials, body scrubs and wraps. We can provide a quick fix from the stress of modern day life or if you are in need of something more we can arrange an all day intensive spa experience to completely rejuvenate you. We use only the highest quality organic ingredients, and our spa manager is available to meet with guests at the beginning of their stay to recommend a menu of appropriate treatments.
